#31 "My life is joyously balanced with work and play."

On Thursday we cut firewood all day, which sounds boring but I had a lot of fun, especially since I'm getting a lot more experience with the chainsaw and wood splitter. When we cut one log open we noticed that there were a bunch of little mushrooms that were growing inside! After we were done we went back to the office for a small debriefing with Joanne and then we said goodbye to the girls who left for Las Vegas. Once we dropped them off at the car rental place we headed back to the fire station for the rest of the night. When we got home the sky was so clear that we could see the Sierra mountains in the distance from where we live. So Amanda and I went on a little walk to take a few pictures. For dinner one of my team mates made everyone fried rice which was delicious! And then we watched a harry potter movie.
Friday morning I slept in until 8, took a shower and by the time I was ready, everyone was awake and Amanda was ready to get dropped off at the train station since she was going out with a few other team leaders over the weekend. After we dropped her off the guys dropped me off at the office so I could get a little Wi-Fi and dropped Maddie off for her doctors appointment. When Maddie was done she ended up walking to the office and then we spent the whole day together in Grass Valley. We first went to a small dinner and got some breakfast. I ended up getting biscuits and gravy while Maddie got steak and eggs. After breakfast we walked around to all the different, unique shops. Some of them reminded me of the ones in DeKalb, with their country/vintage flair, and others were the exact opposite with peace signs in the windows and beautiful crystal decorations around the room. That is one thing I think is so interesting about Grass Valley though; the whole town is so diverse but all close together. By the end of the day I bought a Grass Valley sticker for my collection of places I've been and a beautiful opal necklace. When we went back home Maddie and I decide that the kitchen was in desperate need of a deep cleaning so we dusted and mopped the floors, sanitized the counters and cleaned a lot of the kitchen pans. After we were done we went up stairs and watched another hairy potter movie.
Yesterday I slept in again and decided to stay home and get some work done. One thing in particular that I finished was my True North application that in all honesty should have been done a while ago. Other than the application I finished some other paper work that needed to be done. All in all it as a very relaxing day yesterday.
Today I got up around 9 and had breakfast around 10. Around 10:15 I went to the office with Morgan, printed off my application and mailed it off. When we got home we picked up everyone else and headed over to our sponsors house so our major football fans could watch the patriots game; and I could get wifi. So this is where we have been all day and tomorrow starts another full week of work!

Mushrooms growing inside of the log! Once I saw this I thought of the Jurassic Park Quote "Life finds a way"

You can't see the mountains too well in this photo, I just like the moon being in it.
